About Us My advisory students and I created an outdoor classroom, wildlife habitat, and pollinator garden in the woods behind our science classroom. This project took us two years and I was fortunate enough to keep this great group of students during this time.
In January 2017, the Montrose Student Council provided $125 to build new bird houses. My husband and son built 23 bird houses so that my new advisory students could personally decorate their own bird house to put into our 2nd habitat. In March 2017, the Montrose Knights of Columbus presented my class with a check for $1,375. My advisory students, their parents, and my family built a boardwalk and trail that goes through the wetlands on the northside of our school. For the 2019 school year, Discovering PLACE gave us $500 to purchase the fruits, vegetables, mulch, and plants for the pollinator garden and KHMS Student Council gave us $175 to purchase the lumber and mulch. In May 2020, the Montrose Knights of Columbus presented my class with a check for $500. This money was used to buy vegetables for our garden, mulch, and lumber for the boardwalk. |
